Coordinator's Message
Well, the time is quickly upon us for the annual National Junior Suffolk Show. I hope that you have included Spencer, Iowa in your summer travel plans July 6-8 this year. It would be great to see and get to know as many of our juniors and their families as possible. The junior board members and senior director, Bob Kimm, have been getting plans in order to ensure a successful and fun event. I would like to encourage all juniors to not only plan on showing their sheep in the shows, but to also get involved in the leadership contests, the ewe lead with wool contest, the fitting contest, the judging contest and the quiz bowl. These contests are fun to watch and provide a little friendly competition. Also, juniors who are not able to attend the national show may still enter the photography, scrapbook, advertising and essay contests. Just send in your entries to the office by the deadline and they will be included. I am always amazed at the talent and knowledge that these contests showcase. To those juniors who would like to be more involved in the UJSSA, please consider running for the Junior Board of Directors. It would be a great experience for you and for the UJSSA. I want to thank all the breeders and companies that have previously helped sponsor classes and events for the national show and the many people that have contributed through auctions, fundraisers and donations. You have made it possible for the Junior Association to continue. I am also thanking in advance all those who will graciously donate and sponsor this year – THANK YOU! Watch for the Junior Show Brochure to be mailed sometime in April to all the current juniors. The rules and entry form will also be on the juniors’ website at approximately the same time. The junior website is located at: www.ujssa.org I hope to see you July 6-8 in Spencer, Iowa!Pam Hill
